Driade

Driade was founded in 1968 on the initiative of Enrico Astori, Antonia Astori (designer) and Adelaide Acerbi (communication).
The company immediately established itself for the quality of the original proposal and an innovative industrial policy.

Driade has developed as an author's factory to produce furniture and furnishings as objects of author according to the logic of collecting, in its 50 years it has distinguished itself as an ever-changing aesthetic laboratory.

The history of the early years of Driade crosses the history of Italian design with the collaborations with Giotto Stoppino, Rodolfo Bonetto, Enzo Mari and ancaa Nanda Vigo, Massimo and Lella Vignelli, De Pas-D'Urbino-Lomazzi.

In 1982 Driade develops its communication with the dissemination and promotion that include publishing initiatives, graphic slogans, construction of events.
in 1983 driade publishes the first furnishing manual that will be distributed at newsstands.
Adelaide Acerbi's graphics accompany the company in its metamorphosis, from the minimalist rigor of the seventies to the eclectic complexity of the last years; it is linked to the history of Italian photography, involving Mulas, Ballo, Basilico that through their campaigns contribute to fine-tune that crystalline image of products that will remain a distinctive mark over the years.

In the 80s Driade makes an international change. The collaboration with Philippe Starck begins and in 1984 he started a personal research in the field of form with the Costes armchair. Following the collaborations with Tusquets, Clotet, Littmann, Ron Arad, Sipek, Toyo Ito, Chipperfield, Sejima, Pawson, Bellini
  
At the end of the 80s Driade developed a collection of objects by Borek Sipek, a Bohemian artist who made blown glass, silver and fine woods in neo-baroque language.
   
In 1994 the Via Manzoni showroom in Milan was inaugurated; a succession of large rooms, frescoed rooms and galleries on the ground floor of the ancient Gallarati Scotti palace. To welcome the visitor the vast Driade catalog: furniture, kitchens, accessories, objects of art and everyday use.

In the mid-'90s Driadestore was born, a collection of furniture and objects for the daily thought for a young audience, united by good design, optimization of production systems, in the utopia of quality at reduced cost. Miki Astori, Platt and Young, Haberli, Grcic and many others to dialogue with the old masters, Starck above all.

The contribution of the Japanese Tokujin Yoshioka, since 2002, confirms how the experimentation of new forms and new housing solutions continues to be the vital soul of the company.

In 2003, for the thirty-fifth birthday of Driade, during the Milan Furniture Fair, he organized the Clouds exhibition-event at the Rotonda della Besana in Milan, with 65 historical pieces.

In 2007 Starckland is organized, an event to celebrate the long collaboration with Philippe Starck.

In 2008 driade receives the golden compass for his mt3, rocking armchair designed by Ron Arad, and 'the third gold compass of the company after that for the chair Delfina by Enzo Mari (1979) and for the table tied , also by Enzo Mari, 2001.

In 2015 Driade opens in via Borgogna, in the heart of Milan, the boutique of about 500 square meters arranged on three levels and with a magnificent outdoor terrace. an open and bright space, where the products interact with each other, alternating between iconic pieces and the latest novelties.
