Zanotta

furnishing manufacturer (1954)

Founded in 1954, Zanotta is a historic Italian company for the production of furniture and furnishing elements among the major protagonists in the history of Italian design.

Since the sixties, led by founder Aurelio Zanotta, it has conquered the international scene thanks to iconic products from the point of view of both formal and technological innovation, the quality of materials and production processes.

The 1950s and 1960s were years of creativity and research for the furniture and home furnishings sector. Some companies, now design leaders, understand that they could produce profits and culture at the same time.

Product design has always been carried out with the collaboration of internationally renowned architects and designers such as Achille Castiglioni, Gae Aulenti, Marco Zanuso, Ettore Sottsass, Joe Colombo, Alessandro Mendini, Andrea Branzi, Giuseppe Terragni, Carlo Mollino, DePas-D 'Urbino-Lomazzi, Enzo Mari, Bruno Munari, Alfredo Haberli, Werner Aisslinger, Ross Lovegrove...

The Zanotta collection is developed according to different types of products: armchairs, sofas, furniture, containers, bookcases, chairs, tables, coffee tables and furnishing accessories.

The different technologies used allow, in line with the company philosophy, to experiment and research with the use of many materials such as: metals (aluminum alloys, stainless steel, brass, bronze) plastic materials, crystal, marble and granite, wood, fabrics and leathers.

Many pieces of Zanotta production are included in the history of design books and exhibited in the most important museums in the world (MoMA and Metropolitan Museum in New York, George Pompidu Center in Paris, Design Museum in London, Museum of Art and Crafts in Berlin, Vitra Design Museum in Weil am Rhein, Israel Museum in Jerusalem ...)

Zanotta has received numerous awards and acknowledgments, including three Compasso D'oro Awards received: in 1968 for the Guscio shed designed by Roberto Menghi, in 1979 for the Sciangai coat hanger designed by De Pas-D'Urbino-Lomazzi, in 1987 for the Tonietta chair designed by Enzo Mari.

Over the years Zanotta has promoted the development and dissemination of issues related to the design of the furnishing object and living. Thus, alongside the production activity, an intense activity of cultural promotion of the collection.

Zanotta participates every year in countless exhibitions and events in the fields of Design, Art, Architecture and Fashion.

Zanotta's history is renewed in 2017 in the union with Tecno by starting a common project with the strengthening of commercial strategies at an international level under the guidance of Giuliano Mosconi, President and CEO of the two brands.
