Sofia Design Week which runs from 1 to 8 June, is an international festival for design and visual culture. It takes place every June in Sofia.
It features a professional forum with keynote speakers from around the world, as well as an extensive program of events designed to open wider audience - exhibitions, workshops, debates, conferences, screenings, parties, openings of books, children's events, etc. .
The Sofia Design Week strives to serve as a platform that encourages and supports the development of design professionals in Bulgaria. At the same time, the festival aims to present and promote sustainable practices and sensible and beneficial for a better visual environment around the world. • The first edition of Sofia Design Week took place in 2009.
It is product to the platform for cultural events Edno. Among the other festivals are annual Edno Sofia Architecture Week, Week of Dance Sofia, Sofia Contemporary Festival Mellow.
• So far the list of speakers at the Sofia Design Week includes: Konstantin Grcic, Matali Crasset, Michael Marriott, Mark Chalmers, Erik Kessels, Ji Lee, Marti Guixe.
• In 2011, the festival brought together 70 speakers and participants from 13 different nationalities and has attracted a crowd of 50,000 visitors from 60 locations.
The third edition of Design Week in Sofia won the Event of the Year Award at Eventex Awards 2011.
